Camping anywhere???

I am going to be down in Florida for three weeks this coming summer. It is part of my best friend and fishing partner and I's senior trip. We will have just graduated highschool and will obviously be scrapping for cash. We had planned to camp the whole time but are having a little trouble finding places to stay that are cheap. Around us you just throw down a tent anywhere and crash is it the same down there? There is a lot less public land so I could see where that definantly would be more difficult. We are planning to fish Lake Okeechobee for a week, the keys for a week, part of which will be spent on the Dry Tortugas so we just need the other three nights, and the last bit will be spent in the Pine Island Matlacha area. Any tips on places to stay would be very greatly appreciated. Thanks for all the help. Bent rods!

Camping in the Keys is expensive. You might want to try Sunshine Key. I think they still allow tent camping. Make sure you have plenty of Cutters because the no seeums (sand gnats) & mosquitoes can be hell in the summer. It's always best to have a reservation in advance. Bahia Honda state park is cheaper, but it's first come, first served.

You can reserve a night at bahia honda online. It'd be best to do it in advance. Definitely bring some serious bug spray and hope for strong winds.

X2 on the Cutter and or Backwoods Off! I think theres still a KOA Campgrounds on Sugarloaf key. You def gotta reserve online ahead of time or you'll never get a spot. Every time I try everything is booked. Honda is a REALLY NICE campground, but ya just gotta reserve ahead of time.
