Blast from the past-NAPLES -Vanderbilt Beach

Shark fisherman have been fighting for there rights as long as i can remember we've been a target for the community leaders, tourist and fishing pier owners who don't want to acknowledge the presence of big sharks on the coastal beaches right behind the million dollar condos. Many times the fishing piers who you think represent the fisherman don't allow shark fishing because of pressure from community leaders who are only interested in the tourist dollar.I remember many times traveling hundreds of miles to fish a pier we had heard about and then not allowed on or kicked off once our shark reels came out of the bag and on the rod.For this reason we ended up fishing the beaches of many community's that had piers because as shark fisherman we were not wanted. No matter we continued our pursuit through thick and thin we fished,we learned and we got our fish. Here is one example of a beach we found and fished because Naples pier no longer wanted us.I was a younger man and it was a different era but the love of fighting a big fish is still the same.

This is some of the Naples area fishing we did back in the day. Many more condos and hotels on the beaches now a days but it's can still be done if you know where to park and keep a LOW PROFILE.

Cool stuff Will.. I really hate to see beach and pier access as limited as it is right now..but I can only imagine what few areas we as shark fisherman will have left in 5, 10, or 20 years. Oh ya, nice shorty shorts
