Throw Back Molassess Reef Trip (IGFA Lemon?) Old School !!

Myself, (Jonathan, Young Shannon, & Rene, ); went on a 2 day trip on Rene's 19ft Boston Whaler. Yea the same one!, ( The BIG CANOE !!! ).
As soon as we wen't out from Key Largo I knew it was going to be one of those trips! NE 25+ SOLID WINDS, HEAVY CHOP, WATER OVER THE BOW THE WHOLE WAY OUT!
It Took us over a hour and a half to get out to the reef. I had to lay on the bow of rene's boat just so we could get the prop to chew up the chop. Once we finally got out there it took us all day just to catch some Bonito's to fish. Shannon caught a monster Nurse on a Mangrove Snapper on his 9/0 in the middle of the day! Once night fell rene droped a bonito down on his14/0 and shortly after THATS WHEN IT HAPPENDED!! At first it started out as a slow steady click, ( Most 14/0 can over power small sharks with no problem. ); so the whole fight this Lemon didn't strip rene's 14/0 one time. Once we got it to boat side thats when we couldn't believe how massive this Female Lemon Was !! Honest to god 8 1/2 To 9 footer maybe 10. If no one believes me ask Shannon. The whole time it just layed there like it was sick, it didn't move when we put a Tail rope on and Rene went to fly gaff it. Thats when it CAME TO LIFE! Me with wire in hand, Shannon with Tail rope and flash light, Rene with fly gaff rope, this Lemon Rolls up the ropes slashing and splashing the whole time! It got its Keg Size Head and Peck Fins over the gunnel and showed all of us its Million Dollar Smile! I Frooze instantly, and the only way rene got me out of it was to back hand me in the nuts!! Even after we got its head out of the boat, ( Rene Kicking and Cursing the whole time, ); this Dino Lemon decided to show us whos boss. She grab the right side gel coat with her jaws and sunk deep in shaking the whole boat! There were holes in the gel coat upon future inspection which rene's boat still has. We guted and cleaned the Lemon out on Molassess reef, and when we tried to get the plug in the cooler we had to cut the plug in two pieces! Rene and myself couldn't even pick up the plug out of the water. Once we finally got it in the cooler and got back in, ( which by the way was the very next day we were so Burned Out, ); we went to Casa Blanca on Watson Island to weight the 2 plugs. Together, ( the 2 Plugs, ); they weighted well over 300lbs. The Owner of Casa Blanca told Rene " why didn't you bring the whole shark ? " Who Knew ???
