I'm looking at the photo below and realize that the but of his rod is as high as his chest. He is either a very, very small man landing very large sharks on a very large rod, the rod could be the longest rod produced or he moved his reel seat way up to accommodate his style of fishing from the beach. What is the story?

I too have wondered what the deal was with the rod in his pictures. The only explanation I can think of is that he would put the butt in the sandd and stand up, putting his weight on the rod while fighting the fish. That is the best explanantion I can think of.
I have seen pics of some of Rene's outfits, really long (like 12-13ft) but i have been told that they have thin walls and a lot of people don't like them.
anybody know what im talking about lol?
