Palm Beach Inlet Report 6-8-12 (beach cam pics)
We to the Inlet around 10am flat calm.
Found some bait stuck in the rocks & snagged
them with my sibiki they were baby gogs about 3-4 inches.
Instant hits on bottom rigs off the southside.
3 Runners 1 Cuda and a 79 inch tarpon.
I casted off the end on the southside with a 4 oz.
baby gog as bait, I was waiting for the sinker to hit the bottom
but it never did... I started to wind in the slack and I felt the line
get tight and start to pull, I set the hook and the tarpon jumps
and takes me down to about 1/2 spool then jumps again.
He got me down to about 1/4 spool then he started going south/west.
I walked down the jetty and started walking the beach.
I get back to about 1/2 a spool and he takes off again.
A huge thunderstorm is coming in and it's already raining.
I got the tarpon in about 1 hr+ I'm not really sure
my arms were killing me during the fight.
The weather was crazy. Thunderstorms all day But I kept fishing it out.
I got hit with the same storm about 3-4 times.
The wind kept changing and bringing the storm right back.
I saw a huge 6-7ft Bull swim right infront of me but I didn't have
shark rod with me today just the 4 0's.
He was swiming the shore line and then went around into the inlet.
I didn't see him chasing anything, I guess he was just looking around.
I couldn't take pictures because it was poring rain all day.
Sorry about that guys.
This picture below is when I have the tarpon on and I'm walking to the beach.
What are the chances of that
I'll have a report with pics on sat or sunday if everything goes right.
I got stormed out too, managed a nice eagle ray and tarpon in the hood though, now all you need to do is figure out exactly how long it takes for that camera to take a pic so you can hold up your big fish to make camera-less reports!!!!!!!!
Just an average fisherman.
