Actually daiwa bout the same price on ebay but anything over 9/0 id say Senator or everol I like avet too pretty bad ass can't lie and my 900h been dropped in sand and had no problem plus 1 piece frame
yea but ive taken apart my 9/0 and 6/0 and had sand totally on the insides and i didnt even know it through the reels mechanical use
Same with mine hand sand and salt build up didn't even know till I upgraded my drag a couple months ago lol put in ht-100 5 drag system instead of the stock 3 that only gives 28lbs of pressure which is still more than a 9/0 lol
then i guess it is as durable as a senator, how knew that was possible, and with more drag and bigger spool might be a better alternative to a 9/0
Ya I love mine never had a problem with it and don't understand why more people dobt use em prob cuz penn parts are way easier to get but there's still a lot of advatages with the daiwa idk that's my opinion and I've owned both and got rid of my 9/0 within a month cuz I liked the 900 so much more lol
i think it has to do with the fact ones a penn and ones a diawa more then anything, they feel if it aint broke dont fix it so they will fish penn over every thing esle. so they hear diawa 900h and they say no thank you i will go with the 9/0.now to the the older star drags to lever drags alot of the older fishermen who have been using the big senators there whole life ,even younger fisher men who only ever used used the big senators arent on the lever drag train because they again feel if it aint broke dont fix it. but if you can get an upgraded reel why not use that to your advantage.dont get me wrong i like the senators but with an upgraded reel selection why not use it. on the lever drags you can fish braid(more line) and they have higher drags(stop the monster fish) and i under stand the senators hold up better in sand but if you take good care of your reels it shouldnt effect you whether its lever drag or a senator
