im like 85% sure as of now that im getting an 80w avet for christmas but ill have to put line on it myself.so should i put 130 or 200 lb hollow core on it or would it be smarter and cheaper to put solid core on it then the last 100-300 yrds hollow core so i can do a knotless connection.and how much line yardage whys have you guys gotten on yours.ill probably start off by getting the shark combo spool up from cabbage key when the reel is ordered but i dont want to keep that line on it

Personally the hollow core is nice can't lie and the connection is cool and smooth but I use solid braid with a modified fg knot which is very small and can barely tell is a knot the mono lies flat and the braid is wrapped around creating the same Chinese finger trap affect but if you have the money for hollow core go for it

I would run 200braid to a 200topshot. Also, not sure if ur set on an avet but check tackledirect as i seen they are giving away a finnor marquesa with a purchase of a santiago. get two reels for the price of one.

I mean its whatever u prefer but I don't see the need for hollowcore but some people swear by it so idk mr personally the fg knot is not hard to tie and has 100% streanth from what I read and id go 200lb too that reel has serious drag

yea im definetly getting avet not big fan of fin nors.i just want to know how much braid i can get on an 80w of 200 lb hollow and solid then how much 130 hollow and solid just so i can see the differences between all 4...the 80w has 60 lbs of drag so if you follow the 1/3 rule i would probably want to go 200 but i want alot of line on it too

Right now charkbait has the QUAD T-RXW50/2 priced at $749.99 from $999.99 - same price as an 80w - but much more drag. So - you may wanna think about that.

Since you have already in mind to buy 1 30w 1 50w and 1 80w avet I would start with this 50w TRX since is at promotion right now, and is the BEST reel to be used for goliath grouper and sharks from a boat at 115lb quad-drag. The reel is normally $999.99, now they have it for $749.99. I'm sure they won't have it for long at this price, and you can always buy the 80w later on which has the regular price of $749.99 - new.
From a boat you don't need an 80w anyway, you need a reel with good stopping power. From land, its a different story. U know best were you'll gonna use an 80w the most, i'm just saying what i would do.

its actually not a promotion they have had the 50w for 749 and the 50 for 649 for a while now like 6 months on some sites and ive called them and they said the price has been dropped down to that because there sales werent good enough at the 999.99 so i can get them whenever...and ive been fishing the beach over my boat since i dont drive yet and i want the line capacity and 60 lbs of drag is enough if you have a lot of line
