I have talked to a tackle shop owner who told me that you won't ever use the low gear in a two speed reel when fighting a fish. Is this true for those of you who own 2 speeds, or do you see a practical use for the 2 speed? Thanks

No the low gear helps for winching in heavy weights with less resistance if that makes sense the two speed helps with when a fish runs towards u

I use low gear all the time. When on a big tuna or Marlin sometimes it's better to just crank in low gear than pump and grind in high gear.
