More braid is better. Many people say braid cant handle abrasion I think it can. The mono section will absorb any serious abrasion and dont very long do replacing the mono every ten trips isn't expensive. I'd go with the 1000 yards of braid with as much mono as possible. I put 2000 yards of 200 lb braid with 100 yds of mono topshot on my Santiago130

It isn't as abrasion resistant as mono pound for pound, but it may be more resistant when it is matched with mono of equil diameter
I wasn't saying it us as abrasion resistant but I dont typically fish Ares with dense reefs or rock so it doesn't make a difference to me. But it does pretty well from my experiences.
I agree, I like braid better. But if you watch YouTube videos where they rub 20lb mono and 20lb braid over a rock the braid always looses. I wonder if 80lb braid (equal diameter to 20lb mono) is more abrasion resistant than the 20lb.
