Pier "Certified" Shark Gear!

Since many piers today only allow up to an 4/0 reel size to fish with, i managed to tuneup my 4/0 size okuma to 30lb at strike and 40lb at full without loosing any freespool. Even though, i gain that much of an drag, i pulled back to 20 at strike and 30lb at full for now, unless, i'll gonna see something really big that swims by, then i can set the knob back to 40lb.
Last year i caught on a 4/0 size penn reel an over 9ft hammerhead 2 hours of fight at 18lb drag, so this year at double that drag pressure, should allow me to catch some nice fish. I have this reel spooled about 500yds with 70lb braid and 50lb topshot, it cast GOOD :)
Here is a picture with a bend at 30lb(full):

Notice the 4/0 size reel???

I would step up the top shot a little... I break 60lb test setting hook sometimes.

Just an average fisherman.

You are right, i was thinking about that, since the braid brakes around 70lbs, but i end up not changing the topshot since i got too carried away with the drag tuning results. I'll probably do that change before this reel will hit the water. So far, the tree wins :D
An avet raptor has up to 50lbs drag at $450 price tag, where - my tuning with the reel all together cost me $216 and brings me up to 40-42lbs drag plus SAME cracking power in lower gear. (((There is a reason why this reel got retired since 2012... was to well build for tunings))), not to mention that cast MUCH MUCH MUCH better then an Penn 4/0. Did i mention how loud the clicker is? It will flip everyone on the pier when this reel screams. Ironically the 50w's version clicker - sucks. - go figure.

Cool!

I have to ask.... did you test the drags with only a 50lb top shot up to 42lbs  How many times did you end up on your ass in the grass

Never, but i have to tell you, if i would continue couple more times, i would definitely end up with my ass in the grass, since the 50lb line start to stretch where you could visibly see it. Any time when i would end up towards the grass, due to drag release, i cracked my butt up :D by turning the handle in lower gear.

It's a seeker blank. I don't have the model number since i got it from tim and he got it from someone that never finish the build on this rod. It had a reelseat where tim toke it off, then i purchase it from him where i end up with the rod that you see. Its a nice blank, VERY WIDE at the butt though, where actually kicked my butt to make it in my way, but i'm happy now with it.
