Long Rod or Short Rod 10/0 or 12/0????

I have been going off the beach for small blacktips, spinners, and little bulls. We fish TLD 20's with butterflied bluefish and mackerel. We've been doing real good getting up to 5 fish a day.

Reels:
I know senators are awesome, and I plan to get one. However, I can't decide whether to get 10/0 or a 12/0. I have friends that fish with 9/0's and get spooled a lot. I can get a 10/0 on eBay for 150-200 dollars. A 12/0 is considerably more expensive. But, we all know that it has A LOT more line. I'm not going to be fishing off any bridges in the keys for huge tigers and hammers, I'm just going to be going off the beaches in Juno, Jupiter, and West Palm, so I don't need a 14 or 16/0

Rods:
I know this is a heavily debated issue. As I said, I'm going off the beach so, imo, I think I i don't need a 10' ft. rod . The rod I'm considering is a 5' 6" Calstar 80lb class rod. The only long rod I can find is the 10' 80- unlimited Mud Hole Gator Blank. at 189 dollars it's a little too pricey. the Calstar blank is only 75. I do frequent the Juno Pier, and that's the only place I have for a long rod, besides A1A bridge that has a few bulls every now and then.

Give me your opinion,
Kevin
