Here are the winners of the 2011 BIG HAMMER CHALLENGE. Please bare with me i am still going through each and every page and each picture to determine The Winners. If i have overlooked ANYONE in any category PLEASE call me or send me a PM and I will review your request .

IF YOU HAVE A SHARK THAT HAS BEEN OVERLOOKED PLEASE POST BELOW AND LET US KNOW YOUR NAME ,TEAM NAME AND WHAT PAGE OF THE LEADERBOARD THE SHARK IS ON SO THAT WE CAN REVIEW IT.

Remember this is a month long tournament and it takes a lot of work to stay on top of every single detail to perfection. One change I have made to improve the Tournament's challenging nature is that "One shark alone cannot win the Triple Crown Category an angler must catch a minimum of two sharks winning in any three FIRST PLACE categories to win the Triple Crown".This would represent an angler purposely fishing for Triple Crown status by targeting different species or different line categories.Next year the Nurse shark will have it's own separate trophy because many have complained about them competing against more hard pulling sharks of equal size.

"Had an absolute monster last night!! hit the bait on the way in. I was packing up and reeling in the last rod and about 50yrds from the beach it just bent over and screamed. Went down to just less than a half spool. Fought back and forth for a while. It was a long battle. When he got to the wash and threw that absolutely massive tail up. We were all in aww. Not but a moment later it went slack. He swam off just as tired as I was. my heart broke. When we examined what gave, we saw that he apparently wound up in the leader and about 40' of my main line. and even past my 20' of steel about halfway up my 10 400lb was fray popped ... that was the one! I have been beat but not defeated. WATCH OUT!! I only learn from my heartache... TIGHT LINES GUYS"

Great job to every one in the BHC! So many amazing sharks were caught

I like the ideas for next year for the jewfish category and nurse shark! Competing against nurse sharks for biggest shark isnt ideal lol its the difference of reeling in a poodle vs a pit bull most other sharks fight harder

I can honestly say with this being my first year of shark fishing, i am SUPER grateful to the people that embraced me on this site and took me under their wing. I have learned so much in such a short period of time thanks to my team (SHARK FEVER) and from those of you around the site. I got the greatest gift anyone could recieve from this tournament, the gift of education in the sport. I must admit the pressure was immense right off the bat and expectations even more. I truly hope i will have more of an impact next year as my best outing was away from my teamates on some beach in the west coast catching 6 smaller Tippers. But to me its always those small sharks that help you develop the feel of when to reel/set-up etc.. Thats just me. If i take anything into the the rest of the year it will be this: 1)Fish consistently 2)Fresh bait 3) Mininum 130lb test 4) max length leaders(all steel and cable). TIGHT LINEZ always..

Here's a pic of Josh Pryor's First Place 9'6" Lemon.

The mass of this fish is difficult to describe.

Any idea of #2 and #3 teams?

Congrats to Rico and the big win. I told ya, yall had it in the bag. Waiting to see if someone else catches a bigger one is a nail biting experience. Maybe what i said made it a little more comfortable.
Congrats John with palm beach slayers. Your fish should have won this tourny, just if the wranglers wouldnt have caught that monster hammer.
As for team tooth fairy we ended up with 16 sharks. 8'5" lemon 8' tiger 7'2"tiger 8'4" bull 8'2" bull and the rest were bulls over 6' and one black tip. I had to work 5 days a week so my time was limmited. I Work, fish, and compute with work and fishing taking priority over computing. I didnt want to drive to miami to pick up a trophy, so we decided to go big or not at all. We had a couple big chances but come up with much of nothing but a big bite print and a broke wire. We fished alot and enjoyed the competition.
Oh yeah, congrats to JD's team with that pig shark, I mean that bull shark that looks like a pig.
