NO boats for BHC 2015
i think this topic needs 100% clarification..
i know a team in sc that has used a boat to get to a fishing spot they loaded up a 19ft s/s with a yak and the gear to get to the grounds and landed a 12ft tiger.. i would assume this method would be used for the bhc since it has been extended to nc/sc scoreline.
with such an open stretch of beach/beaches and many areas that do not have accessible without a boat what are the checks and balances in place.. are you going to employ geo tagging of pics and verification of long/lat of the spot.
this question did not come from no where..
go back to a few reports from stanwarren on this site about a 12ft tiger. a member from sc...
in the post when it had pictures it showed them in a boat with a kayak loaded up with gear.. this boat was blandings dads boat a s/s 19ft ish boat... they fished around port royal sound one would assume on an island or stretch of land that is not accessible by foot or generally kayak able
this member also travels to fl and fished and talks to Joshua Jorgensen(blaktiph) on the regular... he is the person who puts on blatip challenge..
now the post has had the pictures removed viewtopic.php?f=32&t=8324&p=54583#p54583
now the bhc has been a fl waters tourney since its birth.. i find it awfully funny that the someone close to a person on bhc committee posts that bhc is now open to nc/ga/sc waters.. when from the birth of bhc it was a fl waters only tourney.. and it all happens the same year that a member of a sc team puts a 12ft tiger on land...

Stan is a passionate shark fishermen who we are honored to call a friend .Stan has poured his heart and soul into this sport and has always been a hard working, honest and upstanding shark fishermen who represents the sport in fine fashion. The BHC only requires that sharks be caught from land EVEN IF YOU USED A BOAT TO GET TO AN ISLAND TO DO SO---the shark must be caught from land within the boundaries of the states allowed in the competition.I highly doubt that anyone will be fishing north of North Carolina or east of the Florida Panhandle but as always a LANDMARK VERIFICATION PICTURE WILL BE REQUIRED OF EACH TEAM IN THE 2015 BHC.
FURTHERMORE ,the BHC has extended it's borders to Georgia ,South Carolina and North Carolina because those states have huge sharks that can compete with the sharks in Florida during that time of the year, and because anglers from those states have shown an interest in the borders being extended so they can compete----so we have given the fishermen what they want. The BHC will continue to represent the sport of land-based shark fishing to the outmost and will continue to do so in the future. Our involvement in this sport spans many decades and we are honored to put on a WORLD CLASS CATCH AND RELEASE SHARK TOURNAMENT with our Main interest being to shine a positive light on our often media battered sport.

thx 4 the clarification.
i was only posting to get clarification on a potential loophole in a very loose and honor friendly rule book. i could see allot of feathers getting ruffled.. i have already talked to people who don't agree with how measurements are taken and other aspects of how tourney life is.... especially with money on the line(no matter the amount) and i had posted on this topic online and had various responses on how potential participants felt about it.
fwiw i do think photo's that are geor/gps traceable would aid in research.. the research national geographic is doing at this point is very interesting. they are scheduled to be on a vessel hear in the next few weeks to do a sampling/study followup. unfortunately i think the data field they are getting is very 1 dimensional.
again thx for the clarification on a how the rules are written...

Landmark is used to verify you are fishing within the Tournament boundaries. Verication means that if you are fishing in North Carolina and there is a famous lighthouse or sea-side restaurant you should take a picture of it and use it when posting your sharks ,that way we can research to verify you are fishing in North Carolina and not Virginia. .

Read the ALL THE RULES CAREFULLY,the Landmark picture and the Team picture will be required so we can put names to faces that are going to be posting there sharks and we want to see a Picture taken from your camera of a landmark in the state you are fishing,,that simple.Night or day has nothing to do with it,the picture should be taken before you get to your fishing spot.
