Helping out the other shark fishermen-the way it should be

Timmyt's response to a fellow shark fishermen.
What TimmyT offered to do right there folks proves the goodness of heart of TimmyT and many others like minded shark fishermen on this site both young and old and that sets us apart from the rest.We need more good men like TimmyT. Timmyt just offererd to take a complete newcomer/stranger to fish in his backyard to catch Hammers something I have seen very few do in the past.Reaching out to other shark fishermen teaching them the ropes and taking them fishing to good spots is one of the Key goals of the SOUTH FLORIDA SHARK CLUB and of this site. Folks I want to say to you that we need more people like TimmyT with caring and giving hearts willing to extend a hand to fellow fishermen. We get so caught up in our own lives in the daily ratrace that we forget to think of others and there needs.Modern day society tends to make us callous and hardened so it is very refreshing to see someone like Timmy reaching out to help a new guy out. This is the way we should all be.
In past years beginning on another site that I will not mention directly there were shark fishermen that competed in the Big Hammer Challenge and the Shorebound tourney who were blessed to live in the most Hammerhead infested waters of Palm Beach all the way north to Ft Pierce/Sebastian areas and what I saw out of those fishermen who usually won the Shorebound and the BHC was Arrogance, cockiness, complete secrecy and a complete unwillingness to share techniques, methods ,baits suggestions, nothing at all was suggested or given during tournaments or at any other time.I understand that anyone fishing a tournament wants to win and therefore will not share winning information but outside of tournament time I saw the same arrogance out of those fishermen treating others on that site with the same attitude and indifference. To me it was sad to watch because I was always willing to share knowledge, techniques and spots gained over decades next to some of the best shark fishermen in the club, and in Florida men like JD Hammer and Rene de Dios.It was angered when I saw those same cocky arrogant shark fishermen bash other shark fishermen that they saw fishing in there neighborhood beaches.Threats were made ,vehicles were vandalized and beach parking lots marked for ownership. The American spirit was trampled by these hooligans discuised as shark fishermen.Today I see the same groups continue there ignorant cocky self serving ways on that other site and Moderators and Administrators who should set the course straight for the betterment of the website stand by and do absolutely nothing or say anything to those involved.Hopefully in the future those running that site will take notice and set attitudes correct or continue to see those Shark Fishing Report forums continue to deteriorate to nothingness. As residents and non residents make use of Floridas lovely beaches we all need to understand that is is part of our natural resources to be used by all and not claimed by locals. The local fishermen and there attitudes to me seemed un-American, extremely childish, selfish and ill concieved.I learned to deal with those anglers when competing against them but was never sucked in by their selfish ways.In some instances we saw things turn ugly with threats of physical violence unfolding and most times the the tournament directors were unable or unwilling to stem the childish behaviour that eventually contributed to the downfall of the Shorebound Tourney. We continued to grow while other tournaments disappeared in the muck and strife or for lack of true dedication on behalf of the organizers of those tourneys.Tough skin,a clean spirit , and true passion are a definite pluses in what we do.Our passion and reverence for the sport of land-based shark fishing propelled us to represent the sport to the very best of our ability and that sometimes leads us to take tough measures to keep those in our very own ranks in line with our goals for this sport ,the SFSC , this site and the BHC. Our aim has never been to say that we are the best, but instead to help you all become the very best -we were just the messengers of the joy of land-based shark fishing willing to pass along what we had learned over the years.
We make it point to welcome newcomers to this sport even though I know we need to do a better job of welcoming new users on the site ,I will continue to be a strong voice for welcoming others not shunning them away.Where there is a need we will reach out ;we will always stride to reach out to those coming to Florida to shark fish and those coming to fish the east coast beaches where we spend most of our shark fishing time .This is one of primary goals and will continue to be forever. We are not perfect but we stride to be good caring and Christain fishermen that will always be willing to lend a helping hand.

Will I agree with your statement. I needed bait the night I caught my tiger .Not only did Timmy give me two bonitas,he also told me where I could catch my tiger. Not many sharkers would go that far out of there way to help another sharker in a turny. He's not only a great sharker, but also a great person .Cuban Eddy is the same way.
You guys should be very proud of Will, TimmyT, RonG and other members who create an unselfish and welcoming atmosphere here. I have experienced this sort of help and support first hand here. You should be very proud of the culture of respect and mutual encouragement that has been discovered here recently by myself and many others. This stands in stark contrast with the secrecy and thinly veiled jealousy observed in other places. Shark fishermen and women are going to be rugged individuals and competitors by nature. Supporting each other in our pursuits is key though and I think Will hits the nail on the head here. I am impressed by you guys and wanted to say so.

What the cocky arrogant, ect sharkers forget to remember is that at one time they were new to shark fishing and didn't have a clue. Somebody was obviously kind enough to steer them in the right direction therefore they should be doing the same for the new guys coming up behind them. I remember when I first started I didn't have much of a clue but I met someone who did..and now I hope to get him fishing for big sharks, and help put him on a shark that eats those tarpon he likes to fish for
Will, Topwater Dm (Dave) is the same type of fisherman. My team and I were fishing a small bridge by Skyway and he showed up and fished with my team for the night. He gave us young guys a lot of information on past experiences and great fishing spots at certain times of the year. He even left us some bait when he left. I have met a lot of arrogant self interested sharkers in my short time fishing and I can say its a relief to meet others like myself just wanting to see everyone succeed, the angler and shark!
