We are working on securing wide Measuring Tapes with glow in the dark paint at every foot to issue to each Team fishing the 2017 BHC.The measuring tapes will be like the ones used in the 2016 Sharks After Dark Shark Tournament.Examples of those tapes below..
CORRECT MEASURING METHOD- # 1
Accurate picture taking and using correct angles will make our job of determining winners much easier.PLEASE MEASURE YOUR SHARKS STARTING FROM THE SNOUT and ENDING AT THE TAIL.IF YOU FISHED JOSH JORGENSEN'S BLACKTIP CHALLENGE SHARK TOURNAMENT IN THE PAST AND HAVE A LEFT OVER WIDE PLASTIC MEASURING TAPE THEN USE IT FOR THE BIG HAMMER CHALLENGE.IT IS AN EXCELLENT IDEA TO USE A WOODEN STAKE WHICH IS FLAT AND THE WIDE TAPE CAN BE EASILY STAPLED TO THE STAKES FLAT SIDE . DON'T FORGET TO PAINT YOUR MEASURING TAPES AT EVERY FOOT MARK .You can also use A section of Pvc pipe like the one in the pic below.
SUGGESTED METHOD FOR MEASURING YOUR BHC SHARKS
Your Tape measure should be stapled 16 inches above the bottom of the stake or pipe so that the tape will run along the mid section of the shark and a true measurement is more possible . The stake goes in the sand about 6 inches and the tape would be 10 inches above the ground and running down the middle of the sharks center-line .

The tape measure should always face the camera.Measure from snout to tail.Hold the tape at the very tip of the snout and don not cover the tip of the sharks tail with your hand.

Is this tape acceptable even though it counts to 12 and starts over at each ft? It is the only one I could find that won't rust got it from lowes

Folks, please be aware that we will deal with teams stretching sharks tails to gain inches.The RULES clearly state "No Stretching of the Tail".The sharks tail should be in it natural state almost pointing to the sky not HORIZONTAL and parallel to the sand.This is a Cash Prize Tournament that runs 30 days and in four different states and WE WILL NOT TOLERATE SKIRTING OF THE RULES!! If anyone thinks that I will not DISQUALIFY SHARKS -THINK AGAIN!!
I don't CARE if you are a SFSC member or have won the BHC Shark Tournament in the past ;I take this seriously ,people that know me -respect me and know I don't Bullshit much or Play games,I surely don't play favorites and sometimes make enemies because I am straight as an arrow, and tell the truth to whomever I NEED TO . I am serious about the sport that I love,my Integrity and upholding the status of this tournament that takes so much sacrifice and hard work. I will not stand for anyone thinking that they can get away with a little fudging of the RULES.The "headhunter" is out and will be chopping heads so don't do it.
I am aware of how difficult it can be to take the Proper Required Pictures on a beach with the raging surf,a wet camera, a thrashing shark, and maybe a team that is underhanded BUT there is no excuse for stretching the tail,,,I told EVERYONE AT THE ANGLERS MEETING on both coasts to abide by the RULES OR RISK DISQUALIFICATION.BELOW IS THE WAY A SHARKS TAIL SHOULD LOOK IN AN OVERALL PICTURE.NOTICE THE TAIL IS IN IT'S NATURAL POSITION NOT STRETCHED OUT LIKE A PIECE OF CHEWING GUM.
