Tx-Shark Mafia / Florida Report

OK.......... FISHING, FUN, FELLOWSHIP, FRIENDS = Land based shark fishing at it's finest

Me and Christi left for florida wed. afternoon after work, we drove all night to get to our spot. We arrive to see some un-favorable condtions, but lets fish. We met up with ( jeff fangman, his mom susan(sharkmom), grand isle sharker, his son chris..aka Drama, and his friend Shane ). Bobby arrived earlier on wed. morning. Not soon after Bobby arrived, he landed a big bull at the end of the leader. As they are leadering the shark in the wash, the hook pops loose and bye bye . Booby said it was about a 7-8 footer. He was big.

The next day the girls would strike first... Susan was first..calm, cool, and like a pro.... 7'4 lemon. Congrats on the PB!

Next up would be Hope, She came to the beach with us before but this time was was on a mission...this was her first shark, and indeed a good one.....9'1 lemon...very fiesty!! Lets not forget, this was caught on the 9/0.

Now It was Christi's turn.....She was a pro as well, after last years good time she was ready for more. A New Pb for her.
She rocked another lemon to the shore... 8'3 lemon

After that the boys all looked at each other and said "it's our turn" I was the first one for the boys. I pulled a 7'11 lemon to the sand.

Next up was bobby, his rod took off and he was ready... he gets a 8'4 lemon...and a new pb for bobby

Chris ..aka"drama" would be next.... he would get him a Pb as well. a 6'2 bull shark

Jeff was ready as well.... Jeff puts a whole jack tail on a light reel and said' i want a fight . His reel takes off and in the process his line was snapped

After that the night was full of cut offs ...So as we sit around the fire we talk about the water we need for a tiger.

So around 5am we hear a rod go off jeffs mom and me where the the first on site, as we let the shark eat we call for shane. As he is getting straped up susan sets the hook and rolls the first run on her hip like a pro.

We give the rod to shane and this was a new Pb for him. he get a 8'3 tiger

Jeff and i went giging everyday and came back with 0, the way that the tide was, there were just no rays in the bays, as we were trying to find the rays at camp there were some that would show up in the shallows. Drama saw one he jumps up grabs his mick dundee knife and gets a nice cownose ray. so now jeff and i return from the shack with a 150qt cooler of heads for bait. Jeff was walking in the surf for hours and he saw a carpet size ray, as he stabs it he breaks his gig. so after he tell me this me and him and drama go into the surf to find more. and we did!!

we also had a lot of blue steel.... thanks Drama for the good times.

Now we are going to get to the best part. The last night that we were there we had the best time. thoughout the day we had been gigging we would snag some big blue crab that were in the surf, and we would give them to the kids to play with. Well i guess kara must have put one in the kayak seat, Later That night i run a big ray looking for the monster i missed the last trip.

Well the bait sat in the water for about 4hrs and got cut off. So Drama said he would run my bait out but he did not want to get his dry cloths wet.......So he goes naked.

So as he gets in the yak in complete darkness he sits on a blue crab Needless to say we could not stop laughing. Then after about 1hr we get a run and Bobby Gets his very first and new Pb for a sand shark.

I can say that every time i have been to florida i get rained on and this time was the same but, this time they got us while we were sleeping We all were up fighting the wind and sideways rain, even the girls in the tentcots got wet
Here is some aftermath and the sec round coming in.

I can truly say everyone on this trip Had a blast, i made some good friends and did things that i will never forget. I only wish i could live closer to the beach and closer to jeff and bobby and family. This was the single best trip Christi and I have experienced in a long time!.
