Awesome going! Those are some really nice sandbars! Sounds like a good night. (Sandbars are protected though, so I wouldn't suggest holding them by the gills like that for a pic, not to be "that guy" or anything  ) Sounds like my Christmas trip. We caught crazy numbers of sandbars every night, all on fresh mullet.

Pics like this are the reason shark fishing is looked badly upon. Especially when they are protected.

No matter what your intent, holding a 100+ lb shark by its gills is never good for it. Don't hold it up that way just to make it look bigger. Just leave it on the sand and kneel behind it. Won't strain yourself that way :D

Nice fish.

It's not about the sharks safety as much as the shark fishermen's both physically and legally. Although seemingly docile, a shark has a deadly set of jaws and surprisingly fast reflexes that could turn any fun night into a nightmare.

On a legal stance, we as shark fishermen shouldn't be provoking law enforcement agencies like FWC with evidence to take away more of our rights. If you haven't noticed, many spots have seemingly erected their own "no fishing" and "no trespassing" signs as well as the increasing girth of regulation books regarding what we do. I've been personally devastated by the ridiculous laws and signs established in my favorite and best spots and hate to see more rights taken away from anyone. Fishing anywhere in Miami for example requires breaking some type of law, jumping a fence, or sneaking around vigilant guards; it's almost not even worth fishing here anymore...

Just an average fisherman.

Your right man and I respect u east coast guys after going to Miami I see what your talking about first hand its alot different than fishing on a 2mile island where u know everyone and they dont care where u fish but just for the record both my sharks in the pic were not picked up by the gills

Great too see you guys having a good time on the beach with sandbar sharks, but remember this is a land based shark site, better practices too keep the shark on the ground posing next too your catch you'll need to learn this if your entering the BHC,pics like this will bring nothing but negativety towards our sport, this site and other sites learn to respect our sport and everyone involved around it!!! ..If you guys are looking too lift things up and put them down I can direct you too a gym for those needs!

So basically, you made an accident (I have held sharks inapropriatly before that injured the shark, without meaning to). Just don't do it again and you will be fine.

Hope these guys don't scare you off, we just like the sport to be presented as best as possible (you understand right?)

Nice catch though

Thanks for not coming off sarcastic or as a prick I appreciate it all sharks swam away fine and like I said before the sharks I caught weren't held by the gills the other anglers they can do what they want with their catch although I encourage them to do things safe and release all sharks!
