Pier, Beach, and Boat mix Tigers Lemons and Bulls
This is going to be a relatively short post compared to our other ones, but through all the negativity going on right now with sharking we have still been putting in time.. yes, we've had to switch our areas, and our times to fish, but we are still going hard.
A few weeks ago, mason and josh's cousin Nikos was in town. They took him sharking and let him reel in this nice lemon.
A few days later, Kyle, Mason and Josh hit the beach. While they were on our normal beach, Andrew, Bennett, and myself had headed south to Fernandina for the night. I got a txt from Kyle around midnight with this nice little bull they had caught. Our first bull of the season.
Later that night Bennett had out a whole cuda on his 12/0. While me and Andrew were sleeping his 12 got picked up and neither of us woke up. Bennett woke us up after the fact and told us what had happened. he said he hooked the fish, it ran for a second then stopped.. he figured it had just dropped the bait, so he let it sit. At 3:25am we are all awoken by Andrews 10/0. He let it eat for a while then set up... nothing.. a few moments later the fish picked it up again and i convinced him to hit the fish quick. he did and we were on. The fish made a couple small runs and had some nice headshakes. Andrew kept thinking it was a tiny fish, but i knew it was a tiger all along. We left Bennett on the pier to watch the rods, and Andrew and I ran down to release the tiger. This fish didnt fight too hard until we hopped down onto the beach.. Andrew handed me the rod, and right when that happened the fish shot into the pilings.. somehow i pulled him out, good thing we had a big leader.
As soon as we release the tiger we hear Bennett yelling he is hooked up from on the pier.. He already had it close to the pier. Once Andrew and I got there the real nice lemon was already in the breakers. We got him in, dehooked, and got a few pics.. This fish was bigger than the tiger.. not sure why it looks so small.
This was Bennett's first nice shark, so he was fired up.
A few days later Kyle and Mason were fishing the beach again, they managed another small bull! Along with a few others caught the past few weeks in our area.. its looking like the bulls might be making a comeback around here.
Patrick and Rett also caught these two hoss tigers out in the boat.
Thats it for now, thanks for reading. Hope to be able to post up another report soon.
