Nice 70" blacktip in fort lauderdale

Went sharkin off the beach with my girlfriend last night. We brought a nice bonito for bait. I put out a big mid section on my 12/0 and a smaller piece on her 6/0. We wait for about an hour and the 6/0 goes off, my g/f pickes it up but the shark lets go before she could lock up the reel. About an hour later it goes off again but this time we know it has the hook. She lockes down the reel and its on! We didnt know what she had at first because this fish was doin a nice run and pulling quite a bit of drag. She is a few minutes into the fight and my 12/0 starts goin off. At this point i dont know what to do because im trying to help her but i want to get the big gun. It runs again and i should have set the hook but i kept the light on her and the 12/0 stopped going off. The entire fight we had a cop watching us and he ended up taking pictures of our shark when we landed it. He said he does the same thing from time to time. It ended up being a male blacktip with a 70" total length and a girth of 31 1/2". Her biggest shark to date.
