Lakeworth pier report, hammer, tiger, tippers and more
Here are the details used to catch that hammerhead:
Crowder rod EBR8030 8' long 30-80lb line class;
Penn reel 113HL (4/0 Left Hand retrieve) NOT WIDE 4/0 AS MENTIONED ABOVE!(tuned drag with 6 drag washer smoothies "thin", 5 metal drag washer "thin" and Cal's drag grease);
500yds of 100lbs braided line (purchased on ebay from china) @$26 and 3 weeks of waiting to get it;
10' long at 130lb mono leader (Striker) purchased form Dick's Sporting Goods for about $8 100yds long;
7' 131lb hard wire leader, doubled up 20" at the hook paid $6 from Sports Authority;
within the wire leader 2ft from the hook i had 200lbs swivel ($4 Dick's), then another 5ft of wire (7ft total wire leader)
16/0 mustad circle hook (paid $3 for 2 from Sports Authority);
electrical tape ($1 Dollar Store) wrapped from the hook barb all the way on the doubled hard wire - about 10" of wrapping;
one cut piece of stingray - about 4-5lb bait paid with a HUGE THANK YOU TO JDHAMMER.
As far as knot what i did is a reverse Albright knot 20 wraps total of 100lb braid to 130lb mono.
The 130lb mono to 131lb wire i use a personal knot that looks like Albright and works better then Albright knot but its NOT Albright knot!! (when you see me ask me to show you how to do this knot due to the fact that i haven't seen this made by nobody). I lost few fish on Albright knot, then i decided to "invent" my own - so i did and works!With this setup i was able to cast about 20yds from the end of the pier.
nice specs, i believe you may be typing a reverse albright, improved albright, alberto knot, or bristol knot? what do u think?
I was watching all thous knots on youtube but none of them is not even near to this knot.
This knot (mono to wire) is tightening in such a way that the wire won't exercise any pressure on the mono to the point were the mono line would get cut by the wire under high loads.
I'll make a youtube video about this knot, and post the link here. If you guys recognize this know, please let me know, so far i didn't find anything like it on the web.
This was my favorite knot, So much better for me when free-lining a live bait to have wire to mono with no swivel.
I will go check my bookmarks i probably have 1 to see...
Yeah here ya go..... http://www.steelheader.net/knots/albright_knot.htm
I have been meaning to start a knot thread for this info...with a sticky look for it soon
btw here is my favorite! http://www.animatedknots.com/indexfishing.php?LogoImage=LogoGrog.jpg&Website=www.animatedknots.com
KNOTS? WELL HELL YES THEIRS AN APP FOR THAT! ![]()
I managed to make today the video with that knot.
I'm sure if you fallow the video you'll be able to make same knot better looking.
You can combine the wraps based on the diameter of the mono.
If i use like a 130lb line i do 6 wraps.
The video is only for demo purpose!
Enjoy!

definetly something ive never seen, its very similar to a snell knot in my opinion, but i do suggest kinking off the wire at teh end rather than cutting it off cause with light wire itll go straight through you fingers.
also you should post this link under the new section for riggings will made
