Just got settled down here in Charleston, started talking to Stan and we had dreams of monster Great Whites so we have decided to push hard through the winter seeing whats actually still around here. We made it out this past Sunday with conditions not in our favor. 45 degrees, raining and windy, conditions are good on the water like normal for here. I can tell I will be spoiled here.

Anyway we get set up and first on the list is catch bait, we set out the little rods and catch whiting right off the bat which is a good sign. They are on the small side but you have to start somewhere. We decided to kayak one of the larger ones out on Stan's Daiwa Isla and try for a ray so we could bait up his Everol. Im still waiting for my new toy to get in. So I run it out and the waiting game begins. The bait fishing slowed down and we were talking it up and his rod starts going off, seemed a little larger than he expected. The line stopped moving so he says " I think its a snag!" Just then the line starts peeling off and the fight is on. After about 15 minutes the Isla subdued the shark. Ended up to be a large male Sandbar at 83.5 inches. Good start to the winter season. I have high hopes for this winter and only time will tell.

Richard rocking the hot pink Kayak about to run out a Whiting for what we hoped would turn into a ray.

Stan hooked up to the "Snag."

Not quite the snag he thought he had.

83.5 inches, Team Requiems' 98th shark over 5' on the year.

For the record it was some old man who saw us fighting the fish that thought we were snagged. He walked over and we said oh you'll see a big fish if you hang out a min. He leaned to his wife and said or a giant snag... Then they promptly left when they saw the shark coming out of the water !

Excellent sandbar catch on a spinning reel!!Thanks Tyler for a nice first Report from S Carolina ,hopefully you guys will get into that big whitey you mention this winter; It's Totally Possible- so stay at it.
Now to Stan's comment-Some old folks would rather walk away so as to not admit they were wrong.
