After a few unsuccessful attempts my gf has finally caught her first shark. We were inshore kayak fishing in Ozello, which is near crystal river. It was a 36" bonnethead on 10lb test that took her kayak for a nice little sleigh ride. She was reluctant to touch it let alone pose for money shot, but she conquer fear and got some cool pics. Even though bonnetheads are a nuisance at times and just bait for the real sharkers, this was a fish of a lifetime for her. This was also the biggest fish she had ever caught. After we landed it, took pics, revived, and released we had a victory beer and then went back at it. That's when she caught her first redfish. Just last week she caught her first mangrove snapper. It is so nice to have a gf who is willing to get out there with me, instead of going fishing to get away from the nagging and complaining. Hopefully I'll be able to put her on some real sharks this winter.
