Fall through the end of 2016 - Stud Bull

I took a lot of time off in the hot summer months and beginning of fall. I still fished, not not as much and sometimes with just a surf rod.

There were some trips along the way, in each month when we didnt even get a click on the reel.

Here's the good stuff!

In September I got a small tipper on the surf rod. He was a drag screamer and he swam off just as fast!

I went out a couple times in October. Adam got a tiger pup that we named lucky. He was missing some tail and had some scars on him!

On another night in October, a wicked squall came rippin through. It was tracking parallel but hooked west, straight on top of us. We took cover at the trucks but not before gettin a sick shot of me gettin back from dropping a bait. Lightning was insane, wind was rippin at 40knots. And then 25 minutes later, clear skies!

I missed a fish two nights in a row in Nov. Never using spider weights at rocky areas again. Learned my lesson when the fish ripped off one bait and stole another when the spider snagged on the rocks while the fish was runnin.

The next week I got a stud cuda.

A week later, We got two tippers and a lemon. All on surf gear. Great Time! 7ft lemon, doesnt look big since Tom is 6'3" LOL

Went out the following week and I hooked a stud fish. Rippin 250 yards or more at over 38lbs of drag. Got him turned around and started gettin some line back. 6 minutes into the fight and a boat comes cruising by and cuts me off. He was less than 100 yards off the beach, at 1:21am during a small craft advisory, Only boat all night. I was sooo pissed, angry, frustrated and sad. Oh well, it happens, I guess. Fish long enough and great things and terrible things will happen.

I got out three times between Christmas and New years, Once solo. Guess which day I caught the fish!!!

I showed up to the beach and there were some sharkers leaving, they said it was too rough. I had already paid the meter so I had to go check it out. IT was alright. I was alone but there were some people on the sand shoootin some pics. I told them that if they dont see me come back in 4 minutes, call the coast guard! Turned out to be a super easy paddle!

My HXW still needed to be spooled up from the boat incident. I grabbed the 50W, and it was a good thing. Bait was in the water at 730pm and picked up at 9:43pm. It was 10:22pm when I got sit back and sip my beer after releasing this fish! Taped out at 8'5" and FAT as FAT can be!

She ripped some serious drag and jerked me around on the sand in the stand up gear on the avet TRX. She even got around the bouy, and I was heart broken, but I stood my ground and waited her out, she turned and I felt like I won the jackpot on the powerball!

At one point, when I had her close, she tore off again, dumping my 50 yard top shot! I finally got her in and was having a difficult time with the One handed SwackHammer Tail rope technique but some guy walked up and offered help, I gave him the fishing rod and roped her in under 2 seconds! The shore break wasnt helping when I was one handed.

I threw him my camera and told him to snap pics while I went to work! Hook was in there good so I cut it. Damn she was heavy!!!!

IT was an excellent way to end the year. And I had caught a bull shark exactly one year before!

Let's see how 2017 goes!
