We are close to losing our rights to sharking on bonita beaches, a great beach to do it from and one of the last in our area. TARPON J: The area she is referring to is your stomping ground and mine when I grew up. If you are available they are having public comment at 9am tom (wed) at city hall. Last minute announcement but thats what they want. (as little outcry as possible)

From the article above and in affect Bonita springs or any other seaside community cannot pass laws that pertain to fishing or hunting the state and FWC preempt local goverments.They can close the beaches for public safety from 10 pm to sun up for example but they cannot restrict what types of fish are fished only FWC can set seasons and limits and restrictions.
"The Florida Constitution established the FWC, which pre-empts local governments from regulating certain aspects of wildlife by stating there should be no special law or general law of local application pertaining to hunting or fishing, with exception to fishing on its own property, according to city documents."
They can get sued if they move forward as well as other communities around Florida with existing anti shark fishing ordinances in place some since the 1960's. To name a few

I've never seen anybody "chumming" on that beach in the few years I've been going there and the single person I heard try to make that accusation was cited by a park ranger later that week for illegally taking live shells off that beach so I wonder if it is the same person? No need to chum on any of these beaches down here there are so many sharks 10 months out of 12 it is ridiculous. Nice how they are holding that meeting last minute and so early in the day when the people that old busy body is complaining about are working for a living.

True but there isn't anything they can do, that lady in that article is a flat out liar anyways. The meeting is more to humor her and the small fraction of other old busy bodies like her who have nothing to do so they don't think anyone else should either.

I agree, she has no idea what she is talking about but this could also be the start to ending shark fishing on our beaches because it has to start somewhere! I Just hope it dosent go any futher than it did
