It was one of the slowest night we ever had, me and my 3 other buddy went to IRB at 7pm,when we got there and nooo our rivalry was there soo they got there early it was a group of kids who was overly immature, they were using hell of better bait than us they got kingfish and bonito for bait while I got dozen mullets, 1 cownose ray and one of my buddy who was out of my mind I think?! TOLD ME TO KEEP 4 TILAPIA FOR BAIT! WTF!! soo I told him be my guest!! so he ended us using tilapia on his trynos, my 9/0 a mullet and 12/0 huge roe filled mullet and my bud 9/0 a mullet, next thing we heard that our rival who is about 300feet away from us "FISH ON!!" we knew they were lying at first then they were throwing bomber size firework in the water, we said oh f**king great there go our night.. next thing they got a run apparently they lost it by 11pm they left soo thank god!! we waited for another hour next thing my buddy 9/0 went off slowly, so it was a slow run for 15 sec then he set the hook and fish was on he fought it for 30min to 45min and it was 25yd away from the beach we saw a splash, told my buddy to shine the light to the line and look for a fin. so we can tail grab it. we looked no fin but a big black shadow in the water and it floated upside down we thought it was either lemon or a nurse, next thing we glanced it 2 big bottom fins it was a goliath grouper so estimated 235 to 250lb golaith and he was excited cuzit was his first goliath. then nothing for the rest of the night

I fish IRB frequently. Grew up there, there are a surprising amount of GG home but I usually get them in the summer months. Glad Ive never ran into that other group "overly immature kids" with fireworks. Id be pissed. My team are all prior Military with short fuses

Awesome catch! How were the crab traps out there? I have been wanting to test out IRB for myself but I was worried there wasn't going to be enough room to drop baits. (Its like a 45 min drive from me)
You guys just paddling out into the traps and dropping your bait anyway? I was just out there and the traps are all over the place less than 50ft apart.
We have spots with no traps for atleast a mile or two!
well there not alot of crab pot tho there are few better go before sundown so u can see all the pots.
