In California or anywhere else for that mattter should it be legal to kill a baby great white or multiiple Thresher sharks as is done in the video that pops up right after this one ends.Four dead threshers on the deck of the pier -freakin outrageous!!!Where are all the conservationist in California ? Does Florida have the strictest shark fishing laws?Is California years behind in dealing with depleting shark stocks?Maybe uniform shark laws should be in place on a federal level,,,,,,,,just maybe.

As a California pier and beach fisherman, I can say that only about 50% of the fisherman here are conservation minded. The other half keep whatever they catch, I once saw a lady with 40 sardines, and 50 mixed other bait fish that were in a bucket she kept, freaking ridiculous.

I was very sad and disheartened when I took my friend on his first fishing charter, we went for sharks (they said the released most sharks and only tried to catch big ones, so they wouldn't hook babies). Well after the trip was done every one on the boat had at least 2-6 sharks. I was only 13 and the crew said they were delicious so we sadly  took part in the slater. We watched them fillet the sharks and every single shark had pups in it. It ruined the fishing experience for my friend who now refuses to go on another charter because he thinks they are all that way.

As strict as some of our laws are I wouldn't mind if they tightened others.

But on the brighter side I have been hearing from shark taggers and tournament anglers that the makos, threshers, and even great whites are in much larger numbers then they have seen in a while and it seems to be increasing.

I my self can catch 1-8 sharks on a given trip usually, but of all the sharks I have caught shore fishing I have only eaten one.

I stopped eating shark years ago, & truthfully had it about 5 times before then ,blacktip ,Didn't think it was so great anyway& I just don't think that any of them ought to be killed ,
If you want fish to eat there's plenty other fish in the Sea ; Grouper tops my list,Mahi Mahi, and TUNA , yeah TUNA , a nice big red slab on the grill, you can't beat that,
Along with some shrimp,Lobster, & a big cast iron fryin pan full of MUSSELS,
Chop up some vegetables, { Celery,Carrots, Broccoli, red peppers, etc} pour in a good WHITE WINE cover it &simmer it till they open.... get it good &hot, make sure the veggies stay crisp
Then take a big loaf of crusty French Bread , & spoon up big bowwls for everybody.........yeah
