This is an open invitation for anyone that wants to meet some of the South Florida Shark Club members and maybe join or if you are interested in learning about our events scheduled throughout the year, well this is your chance. We are always on the hunt for new members and opputunities to strengthen the sport with quality fishermen that can well represent it. This meeting is an event to reach out to the Florida west coast shark fishermen who are actually more abundant then the east coast sharkers so with that in mind we are reaching out to recruit new members interested in shark fishing weather they are newbies or old salts -all are welcome .This is also an opputunity to sign up for the upcoming 2011 Big Hammer Challenge or just pick up a registration form.We will have free hot dogs and cold drinks for those attending so come out and meet some of the club members, talk shark fishing and make new friends.I will be attending this meeting with club representives Travis (Cape Haze Rods)and Chris (snookhunter) and we sincerely hope to see as many of you as possible come out on Tuesday. If you want to go shark fishing afterwards the pier will be open for those interested.

It was great to meet the the west coast SFSC members who attended our first ever meeting at Sharky's Venice Pier.Snookhunter(Chris) and I traveled west for 3 hours and were met by a big group of west coast site members and club members alike. We would like to thank each and every one of you that attended and we look forward to our next west coast meeting -hopefully we will have more advanced notice and better preparation for the next meeting. Our next shark club meeting on the west coast we will mix in some west coast shark fishing that way it's much less strenous then driving the 3 hours west then another 3 back east all in the same night.
This meeting provided a chance to sign up new members and finally meet some existing members that we had never met before.Teams fishing this years BHC had an oppurtunity to pay there Team dues.Shark club newsletters were made available to those who attended as well as other writen SFSC shark fishing material.Topics we discussed included new Big Hammer Challenge line class categories for 2011 including spinning ,50 lb test and 80 lb test, suggestions for setting up a 2011 BHC committee, expected conduct from SFSC members fishing the BHC,better picture taking ,correct use of measuring tape when measuring sharks in the BHC.We discussed and got suggestions from those attending on drawing in new sponsors for next years BHC.Overall we covered quite a wide variety of topics. Other topics that were discussed and very important is the proper and expected way to welcome our new site members.
A special thanks to Travis Rupe and Dave Murray for helping us out.
Thanks to all that attended hope to see you all at the next meeting.
