I found this online, talks about what they voted on as far as fishing on the Rickenbacker Bridge and the repairing of the Bear Cut bridge

Nah it basically says theyre too lazy to fix bear cut.. and are guna fix " Old William Powell" which is the old Rickenbaker which sucks for fishing instead. Bear cut is the only ocean facing bridge i can think of down here other then the keys. They should be fixing the Bear Cut catwalk.. I could care less about "Old William Powell"

That article is dated 2008 .Is there any new infomation on the supposed repairs.I think they will drag there feet until the catwalk starts to crumble into the water. They don't want us fisherman so close to there million dollar mansions.Life in Miami is a BEACH!!!!!

The Bear Cut Bridge catwalks will be torn down and rebuilt but not until 2018 according to Miami Dade. I think the demolition and construction will begin in 2016. I'm going to try and find the article but I believe that is a done deal. As for the Rickenbacker, I agree that Bear Cut holds more species of fish and is an all around much better place to fish, but the Rickenbacker is not as bad as people think it is.
