Many people that met Rene on the south beach pier were entranced by his contagious charismatic personality.Many developed a long lasting friendship with him and went on to fish the many shark tournaments that Rene vigorously fished in the late 70's up until the early 90's.Peter Alvarez fished the Marathon Jaycees Shark tournament with Rene a couple of years and he was a very good student and became a good shark fishermen himself.Life happens as we're having fun and today Peter is a family man with a wife and two sons.He just recently started a dream job running the tackle store/marina at Sunshine Key RV resort and campground in Big Pine Key just north of Bahia Honda State park.Peter is not an active shark fishermen like back in the day but he's a die-hard bottom fish chaser.He gets out every chance he can and does very well catching flag yellowtail snappers,grouper,kingfish and every other species of fish that will show up in a chum slick.Here are a few pictures of Peter.

It is a very small world, I remember in the late 90's my father and I would camp in Knights key , we use to go there with my dad's motorhome and boat and we use to fish with Pete on the reefs at night for yellowtail, who would have ever thought the history he had with Rene or even that The future we were gonna have with Rene and neither one of us even knew, he fished along side us with the same boat in these pics amazing small world
