hello, everybody on the west coast,my personal opinion on this is,that is great to have gut's and glory tournament, but not at the cost of killing the fish, for no reason other than to get a trophy,or a picture in some newspaper, you don't even know how it will be portaded in the tv.you can have a tounament and still not hurt the fish,we do it all the time, again it is up to you what inspires you.picture's of live cought sharks inspires young new fishermen, dead hangin one just smell real badddddd.and if you do deside to enter see if there is a phone number you can contact to see what's the biggest fish turned in is,if you can't beat it don't kill it realease it.dont get used.

It's 1985 all over again,,,,,,or is it?Words to describe this --ballsy but ill timed-the 80's are over ,short sighted, not in touch with sharks reality in 2011.Why can't the captain do the same tourney and do it catch and release,he will sleep much better at night and have alot less bad press. After this tournament ends and I see the results I'll be saying "I told you so cappy"I think this really works against our sport. Will they say that shark fishermen are ruthless mindless killers?MAYBE.

In everything learn to adapt or be vanquished to oblivion in the pages of humanity's history.

Everything from the website to the tourney just gives me a bad vibe, like this is being done to spite those who have disagreed with his views. I feel its just overall bad for the sport. I have seen some articles, and videos of the sharkman and I think the way he portrays himself, and fishing does more harm than good. You cant claim to be a conservationist, and say you started hunting and killing sharks because one ate your dog 40 years ago in one breath lol. Just my opinion but who am I if something ate one of my dogs I would probably hate it too lol

Bruiser is right, and I also think this guy is a couple fries short of a happy meal. When the greenie people see the carcasses hanging and the flies swarming they will be up at arms with plenty of ammo against shark fishermen and they are doing this during all through spring break with tourists all over the place. Go and read comments on any youtube video featuring sharks even if the video has nothing to do with sharks being killed you will hear the greenie people cry about how sharks are endangered sharks need to be protected, how dare you torture that poor animal, ect..Will is right this isn't 1985 but also I am all for someone if they want to keep a fish that is legal that is their right to do so and I support that..but this guy wants to broadcast dead sharks all over the world on espn and there are going to be plenty of greenie people who don't like what they see and will cause an even bigger stink than all the carcasses hanging. I think this guy is acting like a little spoiled girl who isn't getting enough attention and he seems to have a taste for negative attention..seems like all that could come of this is conservationalists pushing for more shark protections put in place so recreational fishermen can no longer target them. The best thing to do would be to try and develop a mutual understanding and respect with the conversationalist types because they are not going to go away. All mutton chops wants to do is get some attention and maybe boost his book sales and his tournament is going to stir up conservationalists and fuel them with things to use against shark fishermen. Thank you Will, who puts in so much most of which I probably have no idea about, to promote a respectable way of doing things in this sport, unlike pork chops who is only trying to cause a stink in more ways than 1.

I believe this is the same man who was traumatised after a hammer ate his poodle? ever sicne he has been hunting the "beasts" it seems like his passion for killing these sharks is just a part of his ego, I looked through his website, he definetly has some incredible catches on his behalf, but I do not believe he is the type of shark fishermen for our club, in several of his pictures, he makes rather errogant comments on the sharks on how they are flesh-eating monsters or fullbred killers and other remarks...

I know its hard to teach an old dog new tricks, but I feel that this guy would hurt our reputation.

Just an average fisherman.

I agree with you he can catch a shark no doubt..but he doesn't do it out of love for fishing. All those pictures you see are him trying to overcompensate and portray himself as some kind of tough guy..yea a real man he is..he probably carried that poodle around in a shark skin purse

Its good to see this kind of distain for that sort of carless behavior. It certainly doesnt represent the modern day shark fisherman. We need to put ourselves as far away from this action as possible. I see nothing positive coming from this especially if it gets picked up by a sports network. I think this needs to be monitored as a concern to all. Just my 2 cents

It's sad to see so few get what this tournament is about. Outdoorsman must make a stand. It's not about prize money or trophies, it's about the American freedom to fish! Period!

The enviro-extremists have suceeded in claiming both sandbar sharks and lemon are near extinction when any REAL fisherman knows during the right migration they're plentiful. And the local governments are eliminating your rights to fish nearly everywhere.

Read the fine print: sharks captured are being donated to feed the homeless through outreach programs.

It's time to draw the line in the sand. If you don't get it now, don't whine when your sport is only a memory from the past. Also, it's the largest shark tournament-there is a catch and release division for those who wish to do so -- they're just not eligable for the largest shark recognition.

God rest those who've suffered from shark attacks. I doubt many of those who have commented here have seen a corpse on a slab after a shark attack. They don't need 'protection.'

WOW this guy is totally against sharks, you sure it was only a poodle that got eaten by a shark, damn he has a deep grudge Against all sharks . I love the name of the tourney as well "PREDATOR ROUNDUP" thats a way to get press and scare the hell out of all the beach go'ers as summer gets closer. maybe the sharks will have a tourney as well called human roundup, seems like they are 1 poodle ahead and obviously a body on a slab. This guy although probably a good sharker is a very uneducated one at that and best of all , one of the leading people that will ban all shark fishing with these antics to get press. Best of luck and remember to stay out of the water
