This year we will have two Rene Memorial Events on Long key bridge .Like in past years we expect to have a large turnout so come prepared with everything you need to stay overnight on the bridge.The first Event will be held from Friday March 20 to Sunday March 22/2009.The second one will be held from Friday April 17 to Sunday April 19/2009.As always we will start getting together early Friday morning on the north side of the Long key bridge parking lot.Wear your SOUTH FLORIDA SHARK CLUB shirt and bring your best Rene pictures so we can remember the lejend and the good times we shared with him.This event is open to anyone who wants to participate all you have to do is notify me of your group size and the names of the anglers fishing.We will have 3 cash prizes for the biggest sharks caught during the weekend event.We have a mandatory pool for anyone that wants to compete during the weekend event.To enter the pool you must put up $20 per angler competing.Money will be awarded divided in three parts 50% to first place,30% to second place and 20% to the third place winner.The total money collected will be given out as prizes.The fish category will be for trophies.
RULES
All sharks must be released.All sharks must be photographed with a digital camera so we can review the pictures .All sharks must be measured and the winners will be determined by overall length.The measuring tape must be visible next to the shark so we can determine length,,,,,,.no exceptions!!!Winners in the fish category will also be determined by overall length,we will measure your fish and determine the winners.

Yah i like the idea of march for this event will due to the weather for some reason getting pretty windy later on in april when we used to do it.

clickers screaming from 1 end of the bridge to the other, teams competing against each other from diffrent cities all over coming together to help each other walk and release sharks unharmed,Fish frying in the wind, snappers being landed left and right ahhhhhhhhhhhh i cant wait!!!!

Anyhoo, I want to say commend Don Will for keeping the memory of "T Real # 1" alive by having a memorial contest in his name.
When someone is memorialized; that is paying the highest complement and Rene De'Dios deserves to be remembered not only as a friend but as someone who was by far very dedicated to his one love and that was sharkfishing.

A.P i agree, so show your face on long key bridge that day, you can ride with me if you want my man, but you will have your name put to the test as the #1 gino. i may have to lower you down on a surfboard to cut lobster buoys, or jump in to pass the line under the bridge during the tide change. That shouldnt be anything for you Albert your from south beach baby an (original old timer)
