I sent an email to Josh Jorgensen the event coordinator for the east coast black tip challenge tourney about expanding the boundaries for next years tourney. He was very open to the idea since it is an honor tourney like the Big Hammer tourney. He gave me his contact info and I will call him on it soon and see if we can't open this thing up for the entire state or even go multi state with it. I'll be back with more info when I talk with him. These sort of events will bring us together as a group and give our sport the legitimate good publicity we so desperately need.........jim

I'd fish it, just hate fishing for tips n winter off the beach, it's cold, rough, n sucks to paddle, that's why this year we're just casting baits and swiming baits until the hammers start munching tips and we'll drop something big, maybe even a tip.

welp looks like i'm in, fishing with tyler betts my buddy who works at lott bros with me, he's kinda new to the beach side of things but he's the only one willing to put the time in and has proven he knows what he's doing on the beach the last few times he came out. I hope we'll be a force to be reckoned with in the btc and if all goes as planned the bhc aswell, he's got quite a few freinds that are into lbsf who know what they're doing and fish quite a few of the same spots I do so if our normal team can't do it we've got some backup.

Hi everybody, we are planning to have the 2012 Blacktip Challenge Shark Fishing Tournament. There are no defined dates yet, but the tournament will occur sometime in February (possibly the last weekend of January). The tournament will probably remain a 3 day format like in 2011. Now concerning the expanding of the tournament boundaries, I have to speak with Pat Turner at the Apex Predator Program. They benefit from the research of the blacktip migration on the East Coast. Also, it is mandatory to attend the anglers meeting, which will most likely be a Juno Park. Will you drive over to the east coast to attend the anglers meeting and drive back to the west coast to fish a 3-day tournament? That doesn't seem cost effective, especially with all the big sharks feeding on the blacktips on the east coast. Nothing is written in stone for the 2012 tournament yet, all rules, regulations, & boundaries are subject to change.

I would like to collect a number of anglers who will be interested in fishing the tournament. Please email me, info@blacktipchallenge.com or post up on the forum if you are interested in participating in the 2012 Blacktip Challenge.
