The 19-year-old is the third person to be bitten by a shark off the coast of Volusia County this year.
The teen was wading in the water near the 27th Avenue beach approach in New Smyrna Beach when the shark nipped him. The teen was treated at the scene and is recovering Tuesday.
Officials said the shark was about three or four feet long.
Volusia County is dubbed the "shark bite capital of the world" because it claims the most shark bites off its coast.
