Hooked Great White bites man fishing from a California pier
http://abc7.com/news/1-bitten-by-shark- ... ch/158818/ Trying to find more info but dey are sayin a guy hooked a baby great white and the shark bit someone while hooked.
7' great white off Manhattan Pier in Southern California. Hooked on a sardine and fought for 45min before it bit a long distance swimmer dimming by. The guy was ok (as in still has all his limbs).
I figured it was only a matter of time. Last year a guy hooked one about the same size that swam right under a swimmer while he was fighting it.

Anybody that swims the beaches of California IS FULLY AWARE THAT GREAT WHITES LIVE THERE,,,,it's there domain,we are the intruders. The swimmers that were doing there training should also be aware that they have to stay a certain distance from a fishing pier. The last guy that was interviewed stated "that fishermen should not be fishing for protected species", good luck trying to prove the angler was trying to fish for any particular species of shark.Who was wrong here the swimmer swimming too close to a pier ,or the shark that bit him??Common sense goes a long way.
ps....we must all learn to share the resources, respect each other, and not claim to have more rights then the next person who likes the ocean

He was using a Sardine also, not exactly a bait for targeting GWs
the problem is now they are trying to ban fishing on public beaches because of this : saying that it was the fisherman's fault. Don't they know how stupid they sound? Most of the shark bites there happen with-out the shark being on a hook. Also if they want to improve public safety then they should make it NO SWIMMING with-in 300 yards of a fishing pier.
