definitely hope not - also hope that if someone knows who this was that they sit them down and explain to them the harm taht can come from this - making the news in this way is not a good thing. when we ALL are using the beach we should not only leave it the way we found it but better than we found it - take an extra trash bag and if theres trash there when you get there take it with you when you leave - kind of the
"pay it forward" mindset. if you know who it is and after talking to them they keep doing it then by all means report them - this is not just their sport its ALL OF OURS and should be protected as such. we are all our brothers keeper - lets help keep our brothers in line.

well,let's look at this situation,dead shark on a no shark fishing beach,or pier.Q1-why behead shark and leave jaws,Q2-why gut fish unless you going to eat it,Q3-why dig a big hole to only bury gut's.Q4-why do all this work of beaching a live fish ,guttting it cutting it's head off,digging a big ass whole with no shubel,only to put the gut's in the hole and not the fish.and FORGOT TO GET THE $5 HOOK OUT OF IT'S MOUTH.I for one smell something fishy about this story.but then again there is always the idiots.you guy's that fish the pier or close by better watch you're back.it's all about the tourist dollar at lake worth beach.

i am so embarrased because im a shark fisherman from lakeworth pier but none of the shark fishermens from there did it... i have no idea who the hell did that

I fish the Pier all the time and was there Sunday night permit fishing.
I saw these fisherman setting up camp around 7pm, it was no one that regularly fishes the pier to my knowledge. We were going to go down and talk to them, as we like to know who fishing around the pier and to warn them that we got kicked out by the police from the same spot. I did see them using an orange two man kayak, I believe.
I did not walk down there, but I wish I did, so I could have known who did it, because sharking in Lake Worth will now be enforced even tighter.

I can tell you to my knowledge that it was no one that shark fishes the pier regularly or that is a member of SFSC. I realize that they have the right to kill a shark, but I don't understand what they were thinking. I truly hope no one in the club was involved as this is going to rain negativity not only on the pier, but also shark fishing in general.

Great, now we all catch more crap from the "beachwalkers". They give me enough crap as it is. That looked like a fairly large 2nd dorsal to me, arent Lemon on the "off limits list"? They're on mine. What a waste. Give us all a bad name. I Hate idiots...

Fishy is right... this was probably some dumb ass that hates shark fishing and was trying to give all the guys a bad name by pulling a stunt like this.

All good replies indeed. Good to see people on the same page. As we are all aware that jaws can go for big $$, you really stain your reputation for doing so. I just feel in my short existence in shark fishing, that if you are going to endorse "catch and release", then you do just that.

Im going to make a conscious effort by switching to a 20/0 circle hook. I actively read the Texas site as well and recently gave the circles a go (reluctantly), and sure as S$%t, hook up after hookup. Yeah i get it, i hear the argument "real fishing is all about setting up", but hear me out. When fishing big baits, count how many times youv'e set up too early. Circles work well, especially if you go a little bit smaller on the bait. Also I noticed if you use a head half of lets say a bonito, your hookup ratio will increase if you hook through the softer meat rather than through the eye. all my head sections get hit on the bottom.

I also think that is kinda of fishy. Ive been planning on giving that beach a try after talking to a couple locals that fish the pier but with this kind of stuff ill probably go and get harassed my self. I just dont see why someone would go through all the trouble of doing all this i just think it is a publicity thing to give the sport a bad name. No one in this sport i think would do this even if they had a little to much to drink. Im just saying this can't be good. I hope nothing comes of this. Lets see.
