How hard would it be to just beach the tarpon and keep him in the water.
These guys had to drop net him... 
The only need to drop net would have been to put a set of hooks in him and send him back out of course while holding proper tags.

Again I think the Title used "Tarpon Slayer" is misleading it doesn't seem they intended to kill that tarpon just taking a pic ,,but of course they are acting illegally be taking it out of the water.If they took the care to drop in back in the water in a net they acted with some level of care for the fish's life.
ps,,,,,,in my humble opinion we gotta be more tolerant ,more kind and less judgemental of the fishermen next to us---let the cops be cops and fishermen be fishermen.

The fish was out of the water over 5 min.
Then was chucked over the side only to belly flop hard and float off.
I told the guys to beach it, but they wanted nothing to do with that.
