Pinder at a spearfishing expo, he and his brothers were tough, i mean getting bitten by a shark and then duct taping his ankle and continuing to spear on the same day says it all and this was back in the days where plenty big nasty sharks were around!Art was still spearing into his seventies!

That 804lb jewfish on a big 14/0 on a bridge would be a challenge!

I ran into a diver who told me that there is an 800 pound jewfish in the channel at the Spanish Harbor bridge. I put down a big tuna head twice, but he didn't want to come out and play. It's amazing that such large fish can live in only 8 feet of water.

Few years ago a Friend had bought an old sailboat, Lancer29' needed alot of work, & an engine , rigging , etc. So I was helping & he had a guy who knew how to rig it right & wew were all sitting one time after working on it,
The guy had been in a dive club but quit because he said : "All they wanted to do was kill fish{speargun] ";
So he's telling us about some of the huge fish they saw, & speared ,
He says he saw a jewfish once that was so big ,that when it opened it's mouth,working it's gills he could feel the "pull" of the water going into it's mouth, he said the head was like the front of a VW,said it was big enough that nobody wanted to spear it.

Won't see one of those anywhere close by anymore
