This Escolar aka ''Oily Fish'' was presented to the nearby island people as a gift when we visited their island. This gesture was much appreciated as they believed this fish has certain ''traditional medical values" when eaten will make the male stronger..... folktale or not, i dun know.......

Its was something new to me then....as the only info i knew is that the meat will have a laxative effect if taken in large quantity.

I've had escolar in Sushi restaurants and the meat is white and as soft as the swordfish and i'm wondering if it's the same fish? It's one of my favorites along with the Toro tuna(belly meat).

Thats a Miya Epoch, Deep drop reel from japan. Its makes the checking of bait easier in more than 200m of water...

the reel come fully functional with handle and harness lug so when hook up on a big fish, you can fight the fish on stand up or conventional way.

Yeah, If its soft, white and oily..... its has got to be the same fish. You can't eat a lot though.... its going to give you the run....
