I was wondering if anyone has ever tried connecting lets say a 10ft. piece of #19 wire directly to there main line connection with a swivel, or would that be a bad idea? My #19 goes to 400lb. mono then that to my main line.

are you talking for a leader or in the middle of your spool

well if i understand you correctly than i is how we do it but without 400 lb mono we use the hook then a length of wire a swivel then tied directly to our main line so you should have no problem doing it
