What it takes to catch your 1st TIGER
Great writeup by OZ,,thanks Chris. This very much reminds me of the way Rene de Dios lived day to day obsessed with sharks and shark fishing ;an old friend that's no longer with us but whose undeniable impact on the sport and those that knew him still lives on.

I read that quote some time back and never took it to heart. this past summer i got really serious and started my obsession that is LBSF... reading that quote again reminds you of all the time and money that can be spent in relentless pursuit, and yes, even a girlfriend or two.
wouldnt change it for the world.
Tiger Sharks seem to be drawn to me no matter where I fish; and nearly every trip. It is the MONSTERS that elude me; especially here in NC. Those are Sharks that I spend obsessing about on nearly a daily basis. If only we can get a MONSTER This Year. I am doing a 14 day/night trip with a five rod spread three of which will be 130 class reels later on this year in NC. These 130 class reels go out with me on every trip. They have caught many 8.5; 9 foot chunky duskys, tigers, lemons, sand-tigers at the time an impressive catch to me; and although still nice (not trying to downplay it) because we catch them on such a frequent basis It is sort of like a so what and unless super chunky rarely raises my adrenaline anymore. Anything under 8 foot to me does not raise my adrenaline at all. Fishing for whatever goals you set for yourself can be frustrating; but history has shown when one is bound and determined with tons of time on the sand and a little bit of luck many get rewarded. I think it's that hope that drives us, and when we reach our goal its that renewed drive from the catch that confirms our reason of why we do what we do.
