STRONGEST KNOTS
Where you fish, and the equipment you use can be a determining factor when choosing one knot over another. The secret that has worked for me is to keep it simple by finding a knot you can easily tie when in a hurry to yak a bait out, learn it well and stick with it if it works for you. There are many questions that will determine what type of knot you use,For instance are you planning to use braid or mono? What lb test are you tying?.Are you using a windon or a double line above your leader?Study the subject ,form a plan based on your fishing equipment then get out there and try out what you have learned.Trial and error will be the true test so put in your time shark fishing.A good habit to get into is to retie your knot after every shark you catch because a knot is pushed to the limit especially when fighting a big shark for a long time. The knot and the line right above your leader will have considerable wear and frays after every fishing trip and even more so if you had an angry shark pulling on the end of your line.Make it a habit to cut off 10-20 feet of line directly above your leader after every BIG shark. If you have a windon leader you should also be very vigilant of wear at your connection and retie after every BIG shark. Your connection to a shark is your fishing line ,and keeping it in TIP TOP shape will insure that you will STAY CONNECTED TO YOUR SHARK WHEN THE BATTLE IS LONG AND HARD.If you get lazy and cut corners you will pay the price by losing that monster you've been dreaming of.The best in any sport do lots of research to optimize the chance of success, prepare well and use and maintain the best equipment they can find.
SUGGESTIONS
1)ALWAYS TIE NEW KNOTS AFTER EVERY SHARK
2)USE A PROVEN KNOT
3)USE A KNOT YOU CAN TIE QUICKLY
4)ALWAYS CUT OFF THE TOP 10-2O FEET OF LINE ABOVE YOUR LEADER AFTER
EVERY BIG SHARK

i tried crimps but the ones i used broke when they were under pressure. im using 300 as part of my leader so it goes hook steel, swivel, 300lb, swivel, 50lb on reel.
i use the same rig sometimes
but i use 600
i use like 25 to 30ft of the 600 an then i use like 8or 9ft of number 19 wire
crimps work fyne for me havent had a single problem with them yet
i dont really trust crimps for line wire or cable the thought of crushed metal holding the pressure a shark gives isnt my preference 130 lb mono all the way to a swivel #19 wire with a nice haywire wrap make the leader around 10 ft or more depending where you are and what you are targeting. i use the improved clinch know ee know it as the fishermans knot but i recently found out the uni knot is stronger by testing it on 17lb test then 60 lb test. but hammer showed me a knot that is in a way a simple bimini it stretches and is stronger than all knots i know except the bimini twist itself so if you are in a rush use the quickest proven knot you know. i think i will try out the uni knot
gino #7419
ive been successful with uni knots up to 200lb test
