It's eveloution baby! I have messed with my little boat for 8 months or so and I have got it going. We been useing it for 4 days and have ran 6 to 8 baits every day that we used it. It's got a 400yd range. Forward and reverse. Totally self bailing and all electronics are air tight. It weighs probaly 80 lbs mostly being the battrie and trolling motor. I know that it is doomed to be lost at sea but until then it's Gona haul my bait. I made it from scratch. Bret Casto put it on u tube if anyone wants to seeit. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jhrm8TwCc8Q

:)) That's crazy! Next thing is to make an RC helicopter to deploy baits even in ruff seas.

Awesome!!! An idea that looks better and brighter the rougher the surf is. How many hours you think you have in the project?

how did you tie in the electronics with the trolling motor? Servos? This is really cool. Makes me think twice about getting in my dry suit to yak out stuff in the winter months

I have a 6v bat for the servos and a 12v bat for the motor. After 300yds it's hard to steer because it's hard to see. It works best during the day. So far so good still. It really helps cause when ya ant shure if there is any bait on the hook ya just reel it up and put it back out. Not shure about rough surf though.

Reminded me of Herb Goodman's techniques at first, but you guys have innovated it well enough to take large baits at long distances.

Since this is a boat with a motor, does it need to be registered with a number on the side? ...or does it follow RC vehicle laws?

I was thinking the smooth back end wouldn't be the greatest for more sleek baits like bonita or in rougher conditions... maybe you can put some sort of a bump to outline the back to prevent some fall-offs.

Just an average fisherman.

The one my friend made dragged the baits thru the water and had a drop clip that was opened with another rod connected to the boat we always joked saying the boat would get eaten by a big shark but it never happened lol great idea tho he put extenders on the side so it could go thru rough seas without flipping

Herb Goodman was also a pioneer of sorts in bait deployment here is an article about his Rayovac RC boat from the 1970's
