Near or Far-Where do you like to drop your bait?

Some folks swear by he long drop while others say that it's not necesary to go so far out to drop your bait.From my expierience I say it depends on the beach you're fishing.What do you think?

Depends on the beach. Gotta fish every new location hard until you figure it out.
