If it has happened dozens of times you need to change your rigs or there are a lot of bbluefish where you are fishing, try using dull-colored swivels to avoid a cut off from bluefish, they attack bloodknots as well. Maybe your rigs aretoo short and the shark swallows everything?

Just an average fisherman.

is it an instant thing or does it slowly get slack? does it break off on your main line or mechanical faulure on your leader?

ya blue and smacks will put a wrecking on your line. also dont no if bull buster is mono or braid but if its mono you might be getting rubbed on a sandbar with some shells or soemthin. braid floats so if you getting cut off on that, its gotta b the blues or you need to chnage ur line

Bull buster is a mono that a fellow sharker makes that is super strong and he sells it for distributor prices like with our discount its 11.35 for a 1lb spool of any line lol its pretty amazing price and really good line

Hammers will grab your bait and swim in and around your line cutting it, also sharks in the sandbar can cut you off, I have lost line in both of these ways, there are some other species that can cut of your line by running into it.

Darn mischievous scubadudes! You've got me puzzled. Id put my money on underwater obstructions though. I have some sunken swim buoys that get me if I'm not mindful. Although all suggestions are excellent points. I really want to free dive my spot just to see exactly what I'm dealing with on the bottom.

Smacks, Blues and ribbon fish will destroy colored line. I have had the most random cut offs using high vis lines like Yellow and Red. If your line is colored switch it to clear.

Second would be structure, sometimes you can soak lines for a few hours with no problems, but when the tide and currents change it will move your line around causing it to get cut by a old crab pot or anything like that.

All good points made here.Hi Vis lines are not good because they will get cut more often by toothy critters specially during certain times of the year .Underwater obstructions are a big problem when fighting big sharks so you should dive your favorite spots first chance you get and clear the area of dangerous protrusions such as old dead traps,or old dead sea fans and such.Sometimes you will free dive a spot and see that it's better to switch spots because you will find underwater features that you can't do anything about such as yagged edges and dropoffs. We fish some spots that have mostly murky water and high surf at the time of the year we target them and so it makes it difficult to scout out those beaches for underwater features. Some beaches have wrecks just offshore of where we can park our trucks next to the sand dunes as is the case at one particular beach in Ft Pierce so we fish 200 yards down the beach of where we park to avoid the "paddle wheel" but this beach is very tempting because it holds big Tigers almost year round. At other beaches where shark club members fish the large amount of underwater coral is something that we deal with by placing a lobster trap bouy in the middle of our line to keep the line up off the bottom,,,,,it's a beach I call "cut-off beach" for the amount of big sharks that are hooked and lost there.

There is a certain beach that we love to fish that because it has alll the right ingredients to catch a WORLD RECORD sized shark and it's close to Gulfstream blue water, drops off quite fast, sandy beach(no coral heads)and holds some monster sharks in the Spring and early summer. This type of beach is Ideal in all aspects except the millionaire neighbors who think the beach belongs solely to them.

Bottom line is study your spot well before you fish it, or you might be in for a big disapointment when you hook the fish of a lifetime,,,,,good luck.

I agree i love to dive all my spots. I find it funny how all the hot spots for shark fishing have some kind of baggage to them kinda like single women.
