Mosquito,summertime bug protection

Often times the worst part of shark fishing is not the physical demands of fighting a big fish on heavy tackle but the constant attack by flying insects be they mosquitoes ,no seeums or horse flys.Summer usually means hot windless days and nights so the wind that would keep away bugs is not present to protect you. The biting bugs are so thick at times that the only solution would be to wear long sleeved shirts, long john pants, gloves, shoes with socks, and a ski mask. There is no other solution as far as using bug spray it's a joke because it wears off shortly and the barrage continues making your existence while shark fishing a Living Hell.Cover up every inch of skin then use bug spray on your face and hands because those two areas will sooner or later be exposed. You will be hot but better to be hot then to be eaten alive .
All this clothes in 90 degree heat, and 95 % humidity will feel uncomtable ,will make you sweat plenty but not as uncomfertable as the bites .Another benefit will be that you will be able to lay down and sleep even if it's for a short while it is important to rest and feel energy when the big bite comes.Another suggestion would be a small pop up tent but is often illegal on most beaches so the clothing solution seems to be the most logical one at this time.

Try shopping at places like sporting goods stores to find the lightest material available to avoid being suffocated by heavy clothing.Bugs love ankles and hands so socks are a must as well as a ski mask or mosquitoe netted hat to cover the neck and head -also key targets of the flying critters.coverup and don't depend on the bug spray it really does not last and will make you feel like you fell in a tank of kerosene.Good luck and cover up.

Has anyone used a Thermacell? I have heard good things, but with the price I don't want to spend thirty bucks for glorified bug spray.

we have two cases of west nile virus in our county right now so its even more important to protect yourself. the first case claimed the victims life. Thankfully its almost that time a year when the skeeters call it quits for the year and go die some where. so lets protect ourselves and not have to hear of another case of this again. here is a product that works very well.
