Learning the seasons - targetting the monsters-
You want to become a better shark fisherman and catch bigger sharks learn by studying the seasons ,the areas and the movements of baitfish .Learn all you can from every source you can and you will sharpen your skills and improve your odds of catching the big fish.Once summer is over the shark fishing starts to change and becomes slower and the rough surf will start making it more difficult to fish the beaches. In many parts of Florida July and August are the best months of the year to target 10 to 14 foot tigers .The hard core shark hunter or the novice should make it a point to study the seasons and learn when and also important where to target the real GIANTS.As a general rule this is the way i think of it from personal expierience -HAMMERS in April ,TIGERS in August. July and August is the time to enjoy the last part of summer with some very big sharks still mating and moving in and out of the inlets where the tarpon are still fairly thick and behind them are the big Hammers ,Tigers and Bulls.Big bays that empty into open beaches means small pup sharks and big predators feeding on them.In April and may in the Florida keys the tarpon school up and the big hammerheads are there to get there full so we make it a point to target the hammers during the spring.Take advantage of each season and what it offers to the shark fisherman .Even the winter time can mean big sharks if you know wher to fish.In the fall the mullet run up and down the east coast are a welcome sign and an indication that the seasons are changing ; a great time to fish with a surf rod or spinning rod with spoon to cast into the huge schools of jacks, mackeral and bluefish attacking the hapless mullet but the surf will be a dangerous place during this time of the year.Jetties ,piers and bridges become a very viable option to target the big sharks during this time .Study and learn when and where and your success as a shark hunter will greatly improve.
To targhet the big sharks you better be totally prepared with the right TEAM,GEAR and mentally ready to go the extra distance to catch the big fish. That's a mouthful but those of you who intentionally fish "for the BIG ONES" know that you have to have the key components in place to target the biggest of sharks.Your rods, reels and line have to be in top shape, your team has to be able to work hard and work together, and everyone involved in the effort must have the mindset and be aware of the dedication, sacrifice and hard work it will take to subdue a monster.A group of guys in the shark club have been having success of late because we are working together for a common goal ,,,,,,,to catch some big sharks no matter how far we have to travel and how much research we have to do.Study the target area then hit it hard..
THE BIG TIGERS,BULLS AND HAMMERS ARE OUT THERE WAITING FOR YOU,,,,,,JUST DO IT!!!!

Big tigers are there and waiting in the summer months

at the right time of the year the big hammers are more abundant and easier to target

the big bulls are best available in the spring and summer especially close if you fish close to the many inlets

wintertime mako's are there if you know where

All diffrent up here. If we have red tide in the fall we have a shitty fall and a good spring but if no red tide its good all winter if ya can stand the cold! real cold to fish the flat surf in trhe winter. The worst thing about our beach is the rough surf and winds. Usually ya have to catch a weather window to fish. Ya get a 2 day chance once a week.
