Advice for my new setup. New to going after larger sharks.

So recently my husband and I came across a 9/0 that we ended up buying, I dubbed it as mine because I technically was the one who found it, along with a spool of 100lb power pro (546.5 yards), and I want the most efficient way to spool it. I was thinking about doing the 100lb first, then topping off with 80-100lb mono depending on how much would fit for where I'm at. I've got a few other smallers setups but I really want this one to allow me to catch some larger sharks. The biggest one I've gotten so far was about a 7-7.5ft (didnt have a tape) lemon on my Battle 8000 with a star rod. The part that sucks is I think I'm gonna have to actually have a know between the two lines since I didn't get hollow braid, and it makes me nervous with the knot going through the guides. Any good knots for tying 100lb braid to 60-100# mono would be appreciated?! This is the first time I will actually be able to go after the bigger sharks here on Sanibel.. and I don't wanna go out there unprepared. Where we are there are at least two sandbars, so I know I'll need the mono for that, I just don't know which would be better, going for the length with the 60 or the strength with the 80+. Advice would be greatly appreciated :)

I run a Uni to Uni with my mono leaders on my 20LB spinning gear. I have bent hooks and pulled small trees off the bottom and that knot has held up.

I would say do 6 wraps on the mono side and 8-10 wraps on the braid side. Wet the knots and pull tight with a glove.

I have two 300 yard spools of 65 LB on my Penn SSV 10500 and I did this knot with 9 wraps on each side. I have not had a fish take more than 300 yards to test that one though.

The 9/0 has up to 25LBs of drag so there should not be too too much pressure on that knot.

Thanks! we're about to spool it right now, just figured out how to get enough pressure so the braid doesnt dig into itself. thanks so much for all the advice, we're heading out after work tomorrow, we're kid free for two nights, so hopefully we get some monsters :) We just got our shark tags in the mail so I've been anxious to get out there!!!

500yrds of 80lb braid and top it with 60lb or 80lb mono. or pack on the 100lb and top with 80. you will probably have around 250yrds of mono if you pack it tight and FULL! use and alberto knot for the solid braid to mono connection. I have many caught fish on this knot on several different line class mixtures. use the palomar knot for all terminal connections up to 130lb mono and a 5 wrap Uni knot for anything heavier.
