Here's the story thanks Jimmy.

"I've been fishing the Palm Beach Inlet since I was a kid and I've seen
the same people fishing up there even to this day.
I was fishing up there with Mark and his Mom and JD(Hammer)
A family friend of mine Bob Paty showed up and was looking over all of the Shark gear
we had brought up there. He told me he had caught a huge shark before but it was along
time ago and he said to look it up. I took some time today and found his catch.
Well here is the beast. This Hammer was caught by him 8/20/1967 around 826 Lbs.
@ Salerno Inlet
Bob Paty, a ninth-grader from West Palm Beach, Fla., gained the Outstanding Angler award at the Buccaneer Yacht Club's Shark Tournament when he landed an 826-pound hammerhead—one of the largest fish ever caught in that area—on 80-pound test line.

I only knew him as a Snook fisherman.
Next time I see him I'll ask alittle more about his catch".

Ok I got the info on this big boy.
Bob Paty was 15 years old and around 140lbs.
He was fishing the 1967 Buccaneer Yacht Club Shark Tournament.
They were on a 22 ft outboard boat "The Slicker II" Capt. Joe Kern.
Going out Salerno Inlet (what we call Stuart Inlet today.)
They saw the hammer going out the Inlet they threw blue runners at the shark,
But no luck. Then Bob put out a 15lb Jack off the side of the boat
using A Penn 9/0 with 80lb mono. And it got slammed
by the hammer. he battled the shark for 3 1/2 hours. Once the shark was tired they beached
it inside the inlet. It took both anglers and some onlookers to lift this 14 1/2ft beast inside the
boat. they arrived @ 10:15pm after the tourny was over. The winning shark was a Hammer 323lbs caught by Ed Enzer of WPB.

Incredible catch on a 9/0 even from a boat! :o
