That happened to me 3 weeks ago right after he hit the bait, he ran with it so fast it. Shit sucks.

My guess is equipment failure due to lack of proper maintenance.

That sucks!! Had the same thing happen to me at the skyway on my son's 10/0. Hit hard & fast & carried the bait & then dropped it & the spool was still spinning when I got to it...line everywhere!! Very thankful I had a leash on it just in case it was to take that leap over the rail. Out there I normally shark free spool clicker instead of in gear with drag backed off like we do on the beach

anwser week clicker's,if you're reel just happens to have a week clicker.leave the reel in gear and let of the drag the most possible.or tighten the adjustment nut on the left side of the spool.

When it happened to me it was completely my fault, I had it in free spool with the clicker off, Stupid mistake.

bro lol chris said she could have fixed that birds nest.it doesnt need to be retired just cleaned. give the man a break he hasnt been fishin this style long.

im just sayin its rusty, corroded, and has a cracked sideplate. And every1 gets them once in a while. But I do believe that sometimes the condition of the reel can affect its abilities.

Just an average fisherman.
