What to do when the fishing's slow???
It s been a while since me or one of my friends has landed a shark (over 4ft). I m sure everybody feels the same, hard time sleeping, bad dreams, texting everybody in florida to see what was the last fish they caught, what bait, what time, tide, wind, waves... Nothing but a fish will make me get back to normal. I probably spend 2-3 hours a day on this forum reading old posts plus another 2 hours on youtube watching the same videos over and over.
I'v been hitting the beach and passes a lot, but it seems that all the big sharks (over 6ft) are on the other coast or they don't want to hit my line. I v been using great bait such as kingfish, cobia, cownose, bonita, lady fish... And the small sharks just tear my baits apart and only leave a clean hook. I believe that i am loosing my mind.
I took a trip down in miami last week end to visit some friends. It s not every day I get to fish the East coast, so I brought all my fishing gear thinking i d meet up with some people and hit the beach. In my mind i was guaranteed to land a nice shark, may be not a monster, but i knew that it was going to be a good week end. So i get down there, text a friend and he tells me that he d call me tomorrow to fish. I could not wait to go fish, so i got in my car, picked up a friend that has ben wanting to go fish for a while and drive to Angelin pier. No one was catching anything that day, some guy caught a big jack and another caught a mackerel, it took me about 2h to get bait, a 16inch spanish mackerel that was giving to me by an older man. So i put it in the water, let it sit for about 3h and nothing. So i packed it in since my friend wanted to go home and I thought i was going to go fishing the next day with someone that would put me on the bite, but he ended calling me the next day to tell me that we d plan another trip some other time. I was devastated , but oh well, everything happens for a reason. So I am back on the west coast fishing every single space of water and dreaming about a hook up.
This is my bored story of the day. Tell me some story guys so i have something to pass time and something that keeps me dreaming.
The story is that you have to put in a lot of hours "even on the east coast" to land a big shark. All of the guys who are landing them, Will, Peter, Josh, Victor, JD Hammer, Luis, and everybody else who consistently lands big sharks puts in a lot more time than anybody realizes. Keep soaking massive baits and itll happen eventually. Its spring right now so most spots are starting to fire off and peak before the summer. Try boca grande in mid-may- all of june, youll get killed by bugs but hook giants too.
To be honest guys, i probably spend more time than these guys fishing, i go 4-5 times a week, and i stay at least 6h, and i can stay 12 hoirs or more. Even since i have finals this coming week, i already went fishing at total if 16h. I m gonna keep going of course, but every man has his breaking pint, i might loose my mind any time and end up locked up in a psychiatric hospital. I know that the big sharks are here, i m sure a ten plus foot shark checked my bait already.
if you're putting in time and not seeing the results, you need to switch beaches. putting in a lot of time in the wrong place doesnt make them bite. most fish are caught in the same areas so take that into account. come to the east coast bc its going off over here. hammers being posted daily. will got a 10ft, josh and peter lost a monster, and the kids caught a 13ft in fort lauderdale, theres the pattern right now. gotta get there
Nurse curse !!!!!
Ever since that fat nurse shark my reel has been silent as well. I thought u were just kidding but I'm beginning to think it is a real curse. I'm ready to sacrifice a goat or lamb or something on the beach where we caught that thing.lol. I even asked my ex gf about it since she's Cuban and her fam is into that Santeria, her advice was to throw away our brooms and buy new ones.
